Posted: 04/08/2010
Here at GNS we are always looking for new projects and we have have just started the first part of an 18month project to build the first NEW 15″ Gauge A3 Pacific Flying Scotsman for Export to New South Wales in Australia. We are not aware of any replica A3 Locomotives that have been build since the early 1970’s and a locomotive of this size will be a real ‘Eye-Full’ once completed. We have this week ordered the Initial Stock of materials to hopefully have the Boiler C0mpleted and signed off for approval before the end of the year.
We have commissioned David Elliott chief design engineer of ‘Tornado Fame’, to head up the design team for this project. David has just completed the Boiler Design and is currently working together with our own team of designers on the Chassis Stretcher and WheelSets. The Locomotive will have a Separate Ride on Tender for Water and Coal Storage, together with three 10/12 Seater carriages. Once complete the locomotive will be shipped directly to it’s New Owner in Australia. GNS have also been commissioned to Supply the 3km’s of track needed to run this fabulous new locomotive.
The Overal Length of the locomotive and Tender will be 17′-9 1/2″
Boiler Working Pressure: 160 Psi / Bore: 04.75″/ Stroke 6.5″ – Design Speed: 25Mph – Maximum Speed >30 MPH (Subject to Load & Conditions)
