Great News today, we have now finished the 15″ Gauge Flying Scotsmans Tender and I must say it looks stunning! – Work on the Locomotive itself has progressed forward over the past few months and many of the key components are in the process of being finished including the front bogie and Cylinders. Hopefully next week we will start the process of tubing the boiler ready for assembly onto the chassi frame which is also being assembled at our Locomotive works in Darlington.

Here at GNS we are pleased to of been asked to work with the BBC Top Gear Team during the filming of the NEW SERIES. Working from a Secret Location, in the Heart of the Leicestershire country side, our team of Speacialist Engineers we able to help with the shooting of a ’Spectacular Stunt’ to be aired later in September, during the final show of the series. 

We will release more pictures as soon as the Show has been aired, as we do not want to spoil the surprise for all you TOP GEAR fans!

Great Northern Steam Company have recently worked with the ‘X Faxtor’ runners up, the Successful Boy Band ’JLS’ on there recent National Arena Tour. In associatin with our sister company Dream Machines Ltd, we were able to source and supply the Ford Mustang that was used in the opening sequence of the show. GNS were asked to convert the vehicle into a ‘Flying Car’.

Our team of specialist engineers at Darlington were able to create the illusion that was needed for this fantastic live show.  The Car is also featured in the recent ‘JLS THE MOVIE’

More great news………GNS have this week opened yet another outlet for the ‘Best in Steam’ from the UK. GNS have joined up with successful business man Bert Koedood from Koedood Dieselservice BV in Heldrik Ido Ambacht. Koedood Dieselservice are a dealer for the well-known brand of Mitsubishi and is a household name in the region for over 40 Years. Bert Koedood has himself many years experience around steam engines and was keen to become our new european agent for all the steam services and products that GNS currently offer.

Koedood Dieselservice supplies engines, engine parts and accessories to enterprises in (inland) shipping, fitting, generator set builders and wharves. The diesel engines are used for propulsion, auxiliary power, bow propeller engines and generator sets and will be installed by Koedood Dieselservice, if desired. Koedood Dieselservice has been a household name in Drecht cities area for forty years now, for the company provides just that extra bit of service that is so important. Such as personal attention to the customers, a complete and qualitatively high product range and a pleasant work climate for its employees.

Koedood Dieselservice means more than just diesel technique: e.g the company finished newlwy built hulls that are mainly supplied from abroad. Koedood finishes them completely, not only the engines but the electric appliances and other provisions such as woodwork and decoration. This takes place in operation with specialised colleagues.
